Burning Carb Bridges

It has now been over four years since we started our low carb (later went straight-up Keto) journey. Both of us were over 65 when we started. By all accounts–and statistics–we should have had a horribly hard time succeeding at something this “radical” and this new to us at our age. But truthfully, we had already tried everything else. And I do mean EVERYTHING else. Richard Simmons, Susan Powter’s “Stop the Insanity,” Weight Watchers (I am a bona fide Lifetime Member since I tried it numerous times and earned that distinction one of those times before it stopped working and Read More ...

Non-Scale Victory Report–WITH PICTURES!

Ok, this is a YUUUUGE non-scale victory for both of us. I will try to keep it short, but for you to completely understand the enormity, I do want to elaborate a bit. Several years ago, while still eating carbs and seed oils, my husband developed what the doctors could only diagnose as some kind of psoriasis. Sometimes it was on the trunk of his body, but mostly the worst place was his hands. It literally became debilitating. And excruciatingly painful. He gave his guitar to our granddaughter because he could no longer play. He would ask me to button Read More ...

(A) Opinions vs. (B) Results–I’ll pick (B) please!

This journey before we came across Keto was a long and winding road. A few times we pretty much just fell off a steep road onto the craggy rocks below that left us bruised and battered. And much less healthy. Since we are considered “seniors” we have had plenty of years behind us, which means we have tried everything. Weight Watchers (both joined, and I even am a “Lifetime Member”), Nutri System, The Daily Plate (now called LiveStrong), the DASH Diet for diabetics, and a myriad of other fad diets that came along over the past 40 years or so Read More ...

Gen Carbers

Gen Carbers The following is personal opinion based on research, personal experience, and lots of inner prayerful reflection. So please take it as such. We are Boomers. Our daughter is  Gen X. Followed by Millennials. And then our granddaughter is considered Gen Z. Every generation seems to have its own designated label. There is a generational identifier that actually crosses all those barriers. Gen Carb. In the last several decades we have watched ALL our nation’s generations battle the same health issues, many of which can be traced back to the escalation of one thing: carbohydrates (a/k/a SUGAR after broken Read More ...

Cooking Keto: you don’t have to be a chef

Cooking Keto: you don’t have to be a chef Do you love to cook? If so, that’s really a plus if you go Keto. But it’s not an absolute requirement. It could be that when you discover food can be your friend instead of an enemy that’s out to destroy and make you unhappy, you may even develop an affinity for spending time with it in your own kitchen. Keto is not hard, really. It’s back to basics. Meats and fish. Healthy fats in which to cook those meats and fish. Some veggies. Eggs. Eventually berries and nuts. And for Read More ...

Get Thee to a KETO Doctor!

Get Thee to a KETO Doctor! When doctors seeing their patients’ health being reversed and improved after putting them on a Ketogenic diet have to FEAR losing their medical license because it goes against the “grain” (see what I did there?) of the dogma of the medical community….then something is very, very wrong. We admire these people for their courage to do what they know is right for their patients instead of following failed methods like the “food pyramid” and the “eat less, move more” low-fat mantra that has put the health and LIVES of whole generations in jeopardy. To Read More ...
